The company was originally started by Jon Green, who is the company Director, in February 2018, and was founded as Master Locking Systems (MLS). With a locksmithing background, the company started modestly, but quickly grew in size and reputation, taking on its first premise within 8 months. As MLS’ client base grew, so did the desire to carry out more varied works. MLS grew from a locksmiths into a full security company offering solutions for fire doors, windows, CCTV, access control and balcony doors.

After a hugely successful start to the business, MLS opened its first premise, primarily as a key cutting shop based in East London. This premise become the springboard to recognition and passing trade, and being so close to Canary Wharf, allowed the company to grow with the surrounding businesses. 

In 2021, the company started Master Building Service (MBS), headed by Sal Ali, Director, meaning the company now offered a full range of property maintenance services, including plumbing, electrics and painting and decorating. With growth into all the major estate agents across London, the company grew rapidly, and shortly moved into it’s second premise, located on the Isle of Dogs. The upward trajectory continued, and the size of the company quickly grew and MLS and MBS become a synergy.

Following the inception of MBS alongside MLS, the company’s growth soared, and with it the need for a bigger space, which allowed for an office to cater for the support staff. The company then moved to its current location at 157 Manchester Road on the Isle of Dogs.

It didn’t take us long until we outgrew the office at the back of the store front, and in line with the need for recruiting more administrative staff, the company made the decision to move its operations team into a secondary premise at 6 Watergate Walk in South Quay. The move allowed for the expanding operations team to function in a more work friendly environment and allowed for even more growth. Ironically, this would be the case again as just a few months later a bigger office was needed upon formation of Master Group.

In April 2024, after months of planning and negotiating, Master Locking Systems and MD Maintenance merged, bringing in a new era for the company, and totally rebranding to what is now Master Group. The company welcomed both Sally Daley as Finance Director and Michael Daley as Operations Director to complete the Directorship of the company. With fresh ideas, the company evolved into a diverse Group, with different elements and areas falling under their own individual brands, with new opportunities constantly on the agenda.

Shortly after the companies inception, the idea of both Master Care and Master Talent were born, with painstaking planning and organising, both are now fully established and thriving businesses within their own rights.

The hope and ambition for the newly created Master Group was exceeded immediately. The plan to lay a foundation at 6 Watergate Walk was scuppered due to the enormous expansion of Master Group, and the need to find a new premise became urgent to facilitate the entire team. Fortunately, we found a premise and remained at South Quay, and are now at our current location at the Sierra Quebec Bravo building, which allows for almost unlimited growth and hopefully remains the home for Master Group for the foreseeable future.
